25 Amazing Oregon Waterfalls You Need To See Today

Oregon waterfalls are some of the best in the contiguous United States. I always come back to this magnificent state just so I can see the lush green, cascading, stunning waterfalls. There are so many unique ones on trails and some at scenic points. I love Oregon because you can easily view most of these beautiful falls, and it is so family-friendly! So read below for some of my favorite waterfalls after living in the Pacific Northwest for years. I have so many listed that are located all over the state.

Toketee Falls

One of the most accessible trails on this list is the Toketee Falls trail. This hike is so fantastic and features a waterfall, mossy trees, and a great river. Toketee is one of Oregon’s finest waterfalls. There is a viewing platform at the end of the trail to view the waterfall from above. You can also hike down a sketchy trail to the waterfall, but I will warn you that it is steep and dangerous.

Multnomah Falls

The most Famous Oregon waterfall is this one right here: Multnomah Falls. It is the tallest waterfall in Oregon, standing at 620 feet. The breathtaking waterfall has two tiers. It is located in the Columbia River Gorge area, and it is so easy to stop and view this stunning waterfall. You can even see the waterfall from the highway when passing by! It is so tall!

You do not need to hike to enjoy this beauty. All you need to do is park your car and walk to the viewing platform and take it all in. But if you are up for it, you can hike to the bridge shown in the photo above. The trail is around 2.4 miles with an elevation gain of 810 feet. The trail was closed when we went, but it didn’t matter as the waterfall still looked glorious from below.

Drift Creek Falls

What I love about Drift Creek Falls is how short and whimsical the hike is (3.2 miles). The trail takes you through a lush green forest and then ends at this lovely bridge. If you look over the bridge, you will see the beautiful waterfall. The waterfall is a little small, but the bridge adds to the scenery.

If you are exploring the Oregon Coast, this is a great place to stop and see a different landscape.

Ramona Falls

Ramona Falls is one of the best waterfall hikes in Oregon. Ramona Falls is located in the Mount Hood wilderness, and it looks a lot like my favorite waterfall that I list below, “Proxy Falls”. The trail to see this waterfall is around 7.1 miles round trip with an elevation gain of 1,066ft. The waterfall features a stunning bridge right in front of it, and it is perfect for taking photos. I want to also mention that the road to get to the trailhead has potholes and can be pretty sketchy, so be careful if you have a low clearance car.

Latourell Falls

Latourell Falls is one of those places that looks too good to be true. It is one of the many waterfalls located on the Historic Columbia River Highway. All you need to do is park your car and walk on over to this stunning waterfall! What makes this waterfall so unique is the bridge that is located right in front of it. It is perfect for photos.

You can also see another waterfall by hiking the whole trail, around three miles round trip. The first waterfall you see is Latourell Falls, and the second one is Upper Latourell Falls.

Proxy Falls

Proxy Falls is my favorite waterfall in all of Oregon. I love it when waterfalls have moss all around and when it cascades into many layers. You can hike to this waterfall, and the trail is about 1.6 miles round trip. Be careful when walking near the waterfall as it can get pretty slippery.

Dry Creek Falls

Dry Creek Falls is a beautiful waterfall around the Columbia River Gorge, and you need to hike around 4.4 miles round trip to see the falls. The trail is pretty straightforward, and when you get to the waterfall, the whole canyon is filled with lush green moss. It is a little hard to capture just how green and magical the area looks, so see it in person!

Tamanawas Falls

Tamanawas Falls is located on the Eastern side of Mount Hood and is rated as a moderate hike with a 3.4 mileage and 580ft elevation gain. The falls are approximately 100 feet high. The trail is a lovely hike on a sunny day, and you can even go behind the waterfall, although I did not attempt it myself. This is one of my favorite hikes in Oregon.

Hug Point

This isn’t an official waterfall in Oregon per se, but I had to include it because it is unique. This waterfall is actually located on a beach/area called Hug Point. If you are exploring the Oregon Coast, you HAVE to stop here! The waterfall is so stunning, and families and children usually love relaxing near this fun waterfall. I saw so many people having a fun picnic nearby, so you can stay here all day and unwind.

Bridal Veil Falls

Bridal Veil Falls is another waterfall located on the Historic Columbia River Highway and is a very easy trail for the whole family. The trail is only 0.5 miles round trip. I was looking at the stats I was surprised because it did feel like less mileage. Either way, it is effortless and another great waterfall to add to your bucket list.

Wahkeena Falls and Fairy Falls

Wahkeena Falls is another excellent place to stop on the Historic Columbia River Highway. To get to the waterfall, you do have to climb up a steep trail. But if you are not into it, you can view the waterfall from down below. If you want to go even further, you can hike to Fairy Falls.

Sahalie and Koosah Falls

Both Sahalie and Koosah are accessible stops on any road trip. An easy loop trail connects both waterfalls if you want to take a leisurely walk with the family. Koosah Falls is around 70 feet high, while Sahalie Falls is approximately 100 feet high. It is well worth it to add this to the bucket list.

Horsetail Falls

There are two waterfalls in this area, and they are called Horsetail Falls and Ponytail Falls. Seeing Horsetail Falls is pretty easy as the waterfall is at the parking lot. Getting to Ponytail Falls is a little steep, but the trail is rather short. The trail is 0.9 miles round trip. It is worth it to stop and see Horsetail Falls as it is such an accessible viewpoint.

Punch Bowl Falls

Punch Bowl Falls is a well-known waterfall located in the famous Eagle Creek Trail and is one of the many waterfalls located on the Columbia River Gorge. The trail is around 4.2 miles round trip with an elevation gain of 525 feet. Eagle Creek trail is one of the most popular trails on the Columbia River Gorge because it boasts many waterfalls, not just the Punch Bowl Waterfall. It was once destroyed in the Eagle Creek Fire but has finally reopened.

Trail Of Ten Falls – Silver Falls State Park

If I had to pick one trail to do in Oregon, it would probably be this trail. Why? Because this trail felt like it came from a dream! It does not feel like a real place because there are ten waterfalls! Yes, you heard that right, ten waterfalls. The waterfalls are South Falls (177 feet tall), Lower South Falls (93 feet tall), Lower North Falls (30 feet tall), Double Falls (178 feet tall), Drake Falls (27 feet tall), Middle North Falls (103 feet tall), Twin Falls (31 feet tall), North Falls (136 feet tall), Upper North Falls (65 feet tall), and Winter Falls (134 feet tall).

When I first heard about this trail, I thought maybe one or two waterfalls would be pretty, and the rest would be mediocre but nope! They were all stunning. It was some of the prettiest waterfalls I have ever seen, and this trail is one of my favorites of 2021.

I will say that this trail is long (we clocked it in around 9 miles). I mean, there are ten waterfalls, so it is understandable. Many people have asked me if it is worth doing the whole trail, and I think it is.

If you are up for the challenge and you are a beginner hiker, I recommend taking your time hiking this trail. You will stop many times, so don’t hike other trails that day. Here is a good map of the trail.

If you don’t think you can hike around 9 miles, I would at least see South Falls, North Falls, and Upper North Falls.

Salt Creek Falls

Salt Creek Falls is Oregon’s second-highest single drop waterfall and is wheelchair accessible. This waterfall is such an easy viewpoint and is located in the Willamette National Forest.
