Outdoor gear can be pretty expensive. The first time I walked into REI, I was in shock with how much everything cost. Fortunately, there are ways to get some great discounted outdoor gear, and I have listed them all below. This list includes online outdoor stores that have high-quality equipment at a discounted rate. Enjoy and save some money, my friend!

REI Outdoor Outlet Store

One of the best outdoor gear websites is my favorite store in the world: REI. I love their camping gear and how they treat their customers, so it is my #1 outdoor shop. But REI is known to be pricy. Having high-quality gear does come at a price. Luckily REI has come up with a great way to buy discounted gear: The REI Outlet. Don’t worry, nothing is wrong with the gear, they are just REI’s last season equipment. If you are ok with not having the coolest gear in the market, then go ahead and check it out! Steep And Cheap

One of the best places to shop for outdoor products at a discounted rate is at Steep and Cheap. This place is owned by none other than the well known outdoor store Backcountry. When it comes to gear, Backcountry is my second favorite store after REI. They have fantastic quality gear and clothing. Right now, on the Steep and Cheap website, I am eying Patagonia’s last season Micro Puff that is 40% off. Just make sure you keep an eye out for the good deals. REI Used Gear

REI has come up with another great way to buy discounted camping gear, and that is by reselling it’s lightly used returned gear. Of course, REI does inspect this gear beforehand to make sure you only get good quality gear. If you are ok with used equipment, this might be a great way to save some moolah. >>>Check It Out Here

Walmart

Walmart is not known for its outdoor gear, but it is a great place to find some hugely discounted equipment. Just note that you won’t find high-quality outdoor equipment or clothing like Arcteryx or The North Face or Big Agnes. Amazon

One of the best places to get online deals is none other than Amazon. They have all kinds of outdoor gear. Ranging from high-quality stuff to the lower quality equipment. They have it all. At times you can find some good deals on the excellent quality equipment when you compare it to the likes of REI and Backcountry.

But I would be wary when shopping at amazon for outdoor gear. If you buy from Amazon, always make sure you compare the price to REI and Backcountry first. If the price is around the same at all three stores, I always order from REI first. REI has the best return policy I have ever seen in a company, and it is a company I trust. The Clymb

Another great place to get discounted hiking gear, mountain bikes, camping equipment, is The Clymb. The only problem is that you need to sign up with your email to see the prices. But it is probably best as their deals only last for a day or two, so getting email updates is a smart way to stay informed. Patagonia Worn Wear

Patagonia is one of the most well known outdoor brands out there. They have high-quality clothing that people love to wear. But it is usually pretty expensive. Luckily Patagonia launched Worn Wear so you can buy used Patagonia clothing. You can even sell your clothing and get a store credit or trade-in your old clothing for new worn wear. Also, another cool thing is if you feel like your clothes need repair, worn wear can fix it at a great price. Pretty neat, huh? The Outdoor Gear Exchange is a great outdoor discount store to find good deals on outdoor equipment. They have many sales and they even price match. Outdoorplay

Outdoorplay is well known for having the best kayaks. They have luckily added more equipment, like camping, hiking, and snowboarding. When you first get to the website, Outdoorplay might not look so affordable, but you have to click the tab that says “Sale”. Evo has amazing gear deals under the Sale Tab. You can buy camping equipment, ski equipment, and surfing equipment at a lower price. This includes excellent quality brands such as Nemo, Kelty, and Big Agnes. They also state this on their website “It’s our goal to provide you with the lowest possible price. Facebook Marketplace and Groups

Facebook is a great place to find gear at a great price. You can either use Facebook Marketplace or join local Facebook groups specific to selling outdoor gear. You can type in the search bar, for example, “Washington Gear Exchange”. Of course, using Facebook to buy gear has no guarantee on the quality of the product, and you can not return. Backcountry

Backcountry is probably the second most popular outdoor brand out there. If REI does not have what I want, I go to Backcountry to see if they have the item. They tend always to follow REI when it comes to sales, so if REI has a sale, so does Backcountry. Moosejaw

Walmart acquired Moosejaw, and now it is probably the third most popular outdoor retail shop. They tend to have sales whenever Backcountry and REI do, and they have an excellent rewards program. When you shop with them, you can earn Moosejaw Reward Dollars on every purchase, which can then be used to purchase gear and clothing at discounted prices. To join the membership, it costs $0. Active Junky

So Active Junky is not a retail store but more of a website for getting cash back. If you click on any of the links on the website and then purchase something, you will get money deposited into your bank account. I have done this for years but on other websites. CampSaver is a fantastic outdoor retail store with many sales throughout the year. I like how they highlight what items are on sale on the home page. Especially because they emphasize some pricy but high-quality items that are on sale. I am all about getting high-quality gear at a big discount. Sierra

Sierra is a retail store owned by the same companies as TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Home Goods. Under the “Clearance” tab on the menu, you can find many items that are on sale. I will warn you to be wary of buying anything in that tab as there are many items I have never heard of. I love buying high-quality outdoor items that will last me for years, and some of those items on this website might not.
