Ever since I was a child, I loved reading all types of adventures. My imagination would flourish every time I would pick up a book. Now that I am older and have picked up this new hiking hobby, I have been obsessed with reading about the outdoors. The trials and tribulations that the characters go through really help me appreciate and love the outdoors even more. This is why I have decided to make this fantastic list of my top adventure books. Best Adventure Books Of All Time

Into Thin Air

Have you ever thought about hiking up to the top of Mount Everest? I have a few times, but then I come back to my senses. Well, this book is the closest I will be from climbing Mount Everest. It is a story of mountaineer Jon Krakauer and a crazy storm, which claimed five lives. It is a brilliant book and leaves you in bewilderment. Since this book is about Jon’s account of the whole incident, and he likes to provide facts and history on Mount Everest, it can be a little slow at times. Wild

Ahhhh Wild. One of the most widely known adventurous books in this country and for a good reason. It is a true story about a woman feeling desperately lost after her mother passes away. She decides to do the Pacific Crest Trail without any hiking experience whatsoever and comes out of the experience healed. It is a book about how the outdoors can sometimes be exactly what you needed in your life.

I have noticed that people either love or hate this book. There is no in-between. The thing is you have to start reading this book knowing that Cheryl Strayed is not a hiking expert whatsoever. Jimmy Blue Feather Best Adventure Fiction

This book is the winner of the National Outdoor Book Awards and for a good reason. It is a captivating story of a native Alaskan grandfather, and his grandson, James, and they embark on a canoe adventure to their ancestral homeland. Becoming Odyssa

Becoming Odyssa is a similar tale to “Wild” except on the Appalachian Trail. After graduating from college, Jennifer has a wild dream to hike the Appalachian Trail solo. The next four months are the most physically and emotionally challenging moments of her life. Dead Mountain

Ok, I am going to confess something. I am obsessed with mystery or murder books. I listen to podcasts on the daily about mysteries. So when a friend recommended this book, I was extremely intrigued. Dead Mountain combines mystery and the love of the mountains. This book is all about the real crazy story of the Dyatlov Pass Incident. In 1959, nine experienced hikers in Russia died mysteriously in an area called Dead Mountain.

It is a huge mystery on how they died as it was in the middle of winter, and all nine members were found without their shoes and limited clothing about a mile away from the campsite (like I said in the middle of WINTER in Russia! Touching The Void

I love survival stories, and this one is no exception. This is a story about Joe Simpson’s adventure in the Peruvian Andes. He and his climbing partner reached the peak of Siula Grande in 1985, and disaster strikes! Joe Simpson plunged off the vertical face of an ice ledge, breaking his leg. To Shake The Sleeping Self

This book is a memoir about a guy named Jedidiah Jenkins quitting his job and cycling from Oregon to Patagonia. He chronicles his trip by posting on Instagram and gains thousands of followers. He talks about the people and the wild places he encountered throughout the journey.
