10 Best Hiking Sandals For Women

Teva Tirra Sandals – Women’s: My Pick For Best Womens Hiking Sandals

Best Hiking Sandals For Women Teva Tirra Sandals

I LOVE the Teva Tirra Sandals. I use them all around the town in the summer, and I also use them when I am camping or backpacking. They are comfortable, supportive, cute, and the traction is great! They are my top pick for the best hiking sandals in the market.

When it gets chilly, I also put on some warm socks. They easily fit, but I will warn you that you might look a tad bit dorky 🤓. Overall I don’t use these shoes on difficult terrain, but I am not a fan of wearing hiking sandals on challenging trails. I am too clumsy. But I do wear them around the campsite or easy short hikes.

Another great thing about Tirra’s is that you can use them in water. The traction is excellent when wet, and the shoes hold your foot in place so you won’t feel like you don’t have control. I love this feature! Also, the cushioned support and how the sandal fits perfectly with your feet make this sandal amazing! Another plus is the excellent price. It is cheaper than any of the Chacos listed here.

I will warn you, some people have stated that there is a hotspot around the ankle area. I have not experienced this personally, but I would be cautious about buying the sandal on Amazon. I would buy from REI (which has a good return policy) just in case.

Cons

  • You Might Get A Hotspot

Pros

  • Traction is great
  • Cute Hiking Sandals
  • Great Price
  • Comfortable
  • Support is Great
  • Lightweight
  • Great Water Shoes

Bedrock Sandals Cairn Adventure Sandals – Women’s

Best Hiking Sandals For Women Bedrock Sandals Cairn Adventure Sandals

The Bedrock Cairn’s are one of the best hiking sandals on this list. They have excellent traction; they are lightweight, comfortable, and have a sleek design. They excel in almost every category, and they can be used for water activities. They are also durable and will last you for many years to come.

The main negative of these shoes is the support. People with high arches (like me), do not get the cushioning feel like the Chacos and Tevas on this list. But, the shoes are still comfortable and supportive to a certain degree. The sandals are also on the more expensive side, but like I said they are incredibly durable, so the price is worth it.

Cons

  • Expensive
  • You Can't Wear Socks
  • Not As Cushioned as Other Sandals

Pros

  • Traction is great
  • No Hot Spots
  • Comfortable
  • Lightweight
  • Great For Water
  • Durable

Chaco ZX/2 Classic Sandals – Women’s

Best Hiking Sandals For Women Chaco ZX/2 Classic Sandals

The Chaco ZX/2 is one of the best womens hiking sandals with arch support. The sandals are comfortable, durable, have great traction, have excellent arch support, and great stability. It is one of the best sandals on this list and for a good reason! They are durable and will last you for years. They are also great for long hikes or short hikes. So they are very versatile.

I will say that they are on the more expensive side, and the arch is one of the highest in this list so, they might be uncomfortable for someone with flat feet. But if you have a high arch foot, you can’t go wrong with Chacos.

Cons

  • Expensive
  • You Can't Wear Socks
  • Not Comfortable For Flat Feet

Pros

  • Traction is great
  • Looks Cute
  • Comfortable
  • Lightweight
  • Great For People With High Arches

Chaco Z/Cloud 2 Sandals – Women’s: Best Hiking Sandals For High Arches

Best Hiking Sandals For Women Chaco Z/Cloud 2 Sandals

If you ever heard someone swear by Chacos, they are probably talking about the Z/Cloud 2. These sandals have a crazy following. People LOVE this sandal. It is comfortable, the cushioning is thick, so it is excellent for long-distance hikes, they are durable, they are lightweight, and they even have wide foot options. They are one of the most comfortable hiking sandals.

But, everything has to have a negative. These sandals are more on the expensive side, and they are usually uncomfortable for people with flat feet. But if you have high arch feet, looking for a durable sandal that you can use on long hard trails, then this sandal is for you!

Cons

  • Expensive
  • You Can't Wear Socks
  • Not Comfortable For Flat Feet

Pros

  • Traction is great
  • Looks Cute
  • Comfortable
  • Lightweight
  • Great For People With High Arches
  • Great For Distance Hikers
  • Wide Feet Options
  • Durable

Chaco Z/Volv X2 Sandals – Women’s

Best Hiking Sandals For Women Chaco Z/Volv X2 Sandals

Do you have flat feet and are disappointed that you can’t buy any Chacos? Don’t worry, Chacos has created a sandal that is for people with moderately flat feet. I say moderately because the sandals still have an arch, it just isn’t as high as the other models. Try out the sandal when you buy it to make sure it is for you.

Other than that, this sandal is just like the other Chacos. They are comfortable, durable, stylish, and traction is great. If you have flat feet and are curious about Chacos, then these sandals are for you. But if you have high arch feet, I would go with the Chacos Cloud.

Cons

  • You Can't Wear Socks

Pros

  • Traction is great
  • Looks Cute
  • Comfortable
  • Lightweight
  • The Only Comfortable Chacos For People With Flat Feet
  • Great For Distance Hikers
  • Durable

KEEN Clearwater CNX Sandals – Women’s

Best Hiking Sandals For Women KEEN Clearwater CNX Sandals

The Keen Clearwater is perfect for people who are as clumsy as me and need more toe protection but wants something breathable and comfortable. This sandal has great traction and is excellent for water sports. During river crossings, I get worried about smashing my toe, but the Clearwater sandals take away that worry.

But I will say that the Clearwater isn’t the cutest shoes on this list. I mean, do you want to wear these around town? Also, people with wide feet have complained of their comfort level. Also, the adjustability is crap around the ankles, so it can be challenging to take on and off. But if you are looking for a great water shoe that protects your toes, then this is a great shoe to have!

Cons

  • Not Cute To Wear Around Town
  • Adjustability Is Poor
  • Not Good For People With Narrow Feet

Pros

  • Traction is great
  • Protects Toe
  • Comfortable
  • Lightweight
  • Great For Water Sports

Xero Shoes Z-Trail Sandals – Women’s: Best Lightweight Hiking Sandals

Best Hiking Sandals For Women Xero Shoes Z-Trail Sandals

Are you looking for the perfect backpacking camp shoe? The Xero Shoes Z is ideal to use around the campsite after a long day of backpacking. This sandal is only 8.7 ounces, so compared to all the sandals in this list, it is pretty lightweight. It is also better than the crappy foam sandals you buy at the dollar store. It has better traction and comfort.

This sandal is not for hard hikes, though. There is almost next to nothing of cushioning, especially if you compare it to Chacos. It is very slippery in the water. But they look so cute to take out in the town and like I said they are the perfect camping shoe. I would for sure pack these on my backpacking trips.

Cons

  • Not A Lot Of Cushioning
  • Stability Is Poor
  • Traction Is Poor
  • Not Good For Water Sports

Pros

  • Great To Use Around The Town
  • Great For Easy Hikes
  • Comfortable
  • Very Lightweight
  • Stylish
  • Pertfect To Carry On Backpacking Trips To Wear Around The Camp

Teva Verra Sandals – Women’s

Best Hiking Sandals For Women Teva Verra Sandals

One of the most average shoes on this list, are the Teva Verra Sandals. They don’t excel at anything and are not great to use on challenging long trails. But I will say that the traction is above average.

But for the price, I think the Teva Tirra is a better choice. These shoes can only be used on easy trails or around the campsite or city. And they are known to have hot spots. But if you are looking for some budget-friendly shoes to use around the campsite, these might be for you.

Cons

  • The Straps Might Hurt
  • An Average Sandal

Pros

  • Ok To Use Around The Town
  • Great For Easy Hikes
  • Great Traction

Teva Original Universal Sandals – Women’s

Best Hiking Sandals For Women Teva Original Universal Sandals

The Teva Original is one of those sandals that have been known for years. But it hasn’t been updated to fit some of the better hiking sandals standards. They are cute and great to wear around town, the beach, and even on easy hikes but not great for hard or rugged terrain.

Since this is a classic shoe and the designs are pretty cute, I still wanted to list it. I mean, look at the moon and sun designs above? Isn’t that so cute? But if the style isn’t really what you are looking for, then I would definitely consider other sandals.

Cons

  • Stability Is Terrible. Too Floppy
  • Average Traction

Pros

  • Good To Use Around The Town
  • Great For Easy Hikes
  • Inexpensive
  • Very Cute

KEEN Whisper Sandals – Women’s

Best Hiking Sandals For Women KEEN Whisper Sandals

Do you have wide feet and want a toe protection sandal that is great for river crossings? Then this sandal is for you! If this is not you, then I would not buy this sandal. The Keen Whisper Sandal is bulky, not attractive to wear around town, and its adjustability isn’t that great. The Keen Clearwater is a much better choice. This shoe is just average and is a little overpriced, so if you don’t have wide feet, I wouldn’t bother with this shoe.

Cons

  • Not Good For Narrow Feet
  • Not Cute
  • Adjustment Is Terrible
  • Not Good For Backpacking
  • Bulky

Pros

  • Good For Water Sports
  • Great For Easy Hikes
  • Good For Wide Feet

More Information On Hiking Sandals

Weight

Generally hiking sandals that weigh more have better traction and are more comfortable. Heavier sandals are used for harder hikes or when you go backpacking. The more cushion and support a sandal has, the better it is to hike with a heavy backpack.

If you are looking for a backpacking camp sandal to lounge around in, I highly recommend buying a lightweight sandal like the Xero Shoes Z-Trail sandals.

Comfort

The more cushion on the sandal, the better for backpacking and hiking. But I will note that many of the more cushioned sandals are not comfortable for people with flat feet.

Are you also more clumsy like me? When it comes to hiking, I prefer something that protects my toe. If you are worried about stubbing your toe then maybe one of the Keen hiking sandals might be for you.

Price

If you are going to be lounging around at a campsite with your new sandals, I don’t think you need the most expensive ones on this list (Chacos I am looking at you). But if you are going to take your new sandals for a spin, then maybe those expensive Chacos are for you.

I personally don’t like hiking strenuous hikes with sandals as I am too clumsy, so the Teva Tirra’s were good enough for me. They are cheaper and still have the comfort and support I need for hiking easier hikes.
